The Birth of Earth
The journey to understand Earth begins billions of years ago, with a giant cloud of dust and gas collapsing to form a new star: the Sun. This process also created the other planets in our solar system, including Earth. Initially, Earth was a molten ball of fire, gradually cooling and forming the crust, mantle, and core. This process spanned hundreds of millions of years, laying the foundation for life later on.
Plate Tectonics: The Driving Force Behind Landforms
Plate tectonics is one of the most important theories in modern geology. This theory proposes that the Earth’s crust is divided into several enormous tectonic plates, constantly moving on the ductile mantle. For example, the Himalayas were formed by the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates.

Understanding geomorphology helps us predict and mitigate the risks of natural disasters such as floods and landslides.
Applications of Geology
Geology plays a crucial role not only in understanding Earth’s past but also has many important practical applications in various fields, such as: exploration and exploitation of minerals, construction, assessment of natural disaster risks, environmental protection, and management of natural resources.
